A successful company meal comes down to three things: everyone seated together, nobody shouting to be heard, and an evening free to run long if it wants to. Les Variétés has been receiving teams at 33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch, in the centre of Angers, since 1902.
Together, not across three tables
This is what most often spoils a team meal: twelve people spread over three distant tables, and three conversations that never meet. The Bressigny room seats twenty-five, the Salle Haute thirty upstairs. Up to thirty, you are in a single room. Beyond that we say so, rather than scatter you.
The end-of-year meal books early
From mid-November to the end of December the rooms go several weeks ahead, and Friday evenings first. A team calling in early December for the following Friday rarely finds thirty seats. That is not a sales line, it is what a city-centre December looks like in Angers.
The meal that is not a party
A departure, an arrival, the end of a project: not every company meal is a celebration. For those, Arrière Foch — seventeen seats set back from the entrance — suits better than a large room: you can hear one another, and say a few words without climbing on a chair.
The budget is settled beforehand
For a team it is better to agree two or three dishes and a format before coming: the service is quicker and the bill is known in advance. We discuss it by telephone from the current menu. We publish no fixed group menu: the menu follows the deliveries, and a price posted here would be wrong in three weeks.
Vouchers, cards and invoice
Luncheon vouchers, Sodexo and Bimpli accepted, as are credit and debit cards, American Express included. An invoice in the company's name can be asked for when paying. For a meal paid by the company, those three lines save a discussion at the end of the evening.
The evening can run on
We close at 2 a.m., Monday to Saturday. A team meal starting at eight is not asked to free the table at half past ten; the bar takes over when the kitchen has finished. For an end-of-year meal, that is often what decides the address.
Everyone finds something
In any team there is a vegetarian, someone who does not eat fish, and an allergy. The menu offers vegetarian dishes alongside the brasserie classics, and allergens are listed dish by dish online. Circulate it before coming: that settles the matter without a questionnaire at the table.
Getting there, and getting home
33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch is within walking distance of Saint-Laud station, Place du Ralliement and the castle. A team coming from outside can therefore leave the car — useful information when a company meal involves a drink.

More than thirty people in one room. Private hire of the whole house. The terrace, which depends on the sky and is never held. And Sunday, when we are closed.
