The training day ends at 5 pm, the hotel is near the station, and the evening looks set to be long. Having dinner as a party of fifteen in a conventional restaurant, squeezed between two tables, lowering your voices as soon as the group laughs a little loudly: that is not an evening out. Les Variétés is a brasserie open since 1902, at 33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch. You have dinner, a drink, and you stay, Monday to Saturday until 2 am.
A room of your own
This is what changes everything for a group: you are not mixed in with the other customers. The Entrée Foch seats thirteen, the Arrière Foch seventeen, the Bressigny room twenty-five, and the Salle Haute thirty, upstairs: it is the one for groups who want to talk loudly and laugh without black looks from the next table. Each room can be booked at no extra charge and has its own screen. For a very large group, the whole establishment can be hired privately, up to eighty-five people indoors.
A whole evening, not just a meal
In a restaurant with fixed services, the bill arrives with the coffee. Here, the dining room stays open after dessert. You start with an aperitif, have dinner (the kitchen serves from 6:30 pm to 10 pm), then stay at the bar or at the table for as long as the group feels like it. For colleagues who only see each other on training courses, it is often the best moment of the week.
Mechanics, electricians, carpenters: after a day in the workshop
Many training courses in Angers do not take place in a classroom. HGV mechanics, maintenance technicians, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders, plant operators: you spend the day on your feet, in a workshop or on a technical training floor. In the evening, you are properly hungry. A fine cut of meat, a home-made burger, raclette in winter, and a room where you unwind with colleagues without having to behave as if you were in a stuffy restaurant.
From far away, overseas included
The large industrial sites around Angers train technicians who come from all over France, and sometimes from France’s overseas territories, for one or two weeks. Far from home, a warm table and a team that recognises you from the second evening make a difference. If your group comes back every evening of the week, it keeps the same room.
In winter, raclette
From 15 October to the end of February, half-wheel raclette is scraped at the table: €27.90 per person. For a group that wants to unwind, nothing is more convivial.
In fine weather, the terrace
Forty-three seats on boulevard Foch, under a large awning, open all year round. As soon as the evenings grow longer, dinner and the last drink are taken outside.
The price, with no surprises
The group set menu is €34.90 per person from six guests (starter, main and dessert, drinks not included), lunchtime and evening alike, Monday to Saturday. In the evening à la carte, allow €30 to €40 per person. These are the prices displayed on our website, with no extra charge for the room.
Invoices for companies, Chorus Pro for the public sector
An invoice in the company’s name can be requested when booking. Public bodies already pay us through Chorus Pro, against a purchase order or by bank transfer. Meal vouchers and bank cards are accepted, American Express included.
A stone’s throw from your hotel
We are five minutes’ walk from Saint-Laud station and the hotels in the area, in the centre of Angers. Nobody needs to get back in the car.
