A terrace without protection only works for half a season. In Angers, between the May showers and the overhead sun of July, you either bring customers inside or leave them to bake. At Les Variétés, the terrace at 33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch is covered by a large awning: forty-three seats outside, usable when the weather cannot make up its mind.
A large awning, not three parasols
The difference lies in the structure. A parasol shelters one table and leaves its neighbours in the sun; it has to be moved as the shade turns, and folded at the first gust of wind. The awning at Les Variétés covers the terrace in one piece. You sit where you like, you do not change places at two o’clock, and a summer shower does not empty the tables. That is what allows us to offer the terrace in April as in September, and not just for the few weeks when the sky behaves.
Forty-three seats, a third of the house
The terrace has forty-three covers, out of a hundred and twenty-eight in total — the rest are spread over four indoor rooms: Entrée Foch with its thirteen seats, Arrière Foch with seventeen, the Bressigny room with twenty-five and the Salle Haute with thirty. The figure matters for a large table: ten or so people can sit outside without tying up a whole room, and the team keeps some flexibility for the rest of the service. These capacities were counted table by table on 31 August 2026.
Boulevard Foch as the backdrop
This is not a back-street terrace, out of the way and dead quiet. Boulevard du Maréchal Foch is a street every local can place: you watch the city go by, the bikes, the people heading home from work. Some people want exactly that — to sit outside and watch. Others prefer the back of the dining room. Both exist here, and you choose when you arrive.
The terrace, open all year round

The same menu, inside and out
Nothing changes on the plate. The meat is French, the fish comes from Maison Savia, in Saumur, the menu follows deliveries and can be viewed online before you come, with allergens shown dish by dish. You can have lunch on the terrace just as you dine in the dining room, and the house stays open late: Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 2 am, Saturdays from 10 am to 2 am. Usually closed on Sundays.
