In Angers, many kitchens close just as the evening really gets going. Les Variétés stays open until 2 am, six days a week — Monday to Friday from 9:30 am, Saturdays from 10 am. Those hours change the nature of the place: you do not just come for dinner, you come to spend the evening.
Two in the morning, six days a week
The closing time is not just something written on the door. It lets you arrive after a film, after a match, after an evening train, without wondering whether you will be shown out within a quarter of an hour. It also lets you stay: a dinner that stretches out, a drink after dessert, a table nobody takes back from you. The only exception is Sunday, when the house is usually closed.
Karaoke and live sport
The house holds karaoke evenings and shows the major sporting events. These are two different ways of spending an evening, and two reasons to come that have nothing to do with the menu: you can drop in for a drink during a match, or end the evening at the microphone. These events do not run every night — ask for the calendar on site or on +33 2 41 88 46 62.
Dining late, or just having a drink
Both are possible, and that is what a brasserie is for. The kitchen takes orders until 10 pm and serves the house classics — French meat, fish from Maison Savia, vegetarian dishes; after that, dishes in jars and the bar take over. Nobody will ask you to order a starter to earn the right to sit down.
After the show, after the match
33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch can be reached on foot from the city centre, the place du Ralliement and Saint-Laud station. That is what makes it a natural place to end up late in the evening: the dining room is large — eighty-five seats indoors, spread over four spaces — and the forty-three-seat covered terrace stays usable late when the night is mild.
Letting us know for a large table
For two, just turn up. For ten or twenty, a word in advance changes everything: the Bressigny room seats twenty-five people and the Salle Haute thirty. Give your real arrival time: after 10 pm, the kitchen no longer takes orders, and it is the dishes in jars that await you. Bookings are made online or by phone.
