Every September, Les Accroche-cœurs turn the centre of Angers into a stage for three days; the 2027 edition is expected in September, on dates the City of Angers will announce. Les Variétés, at 33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch, sit in the middle of it: a brasserie open since 1902, minutes from performances spread across the centre and both banks of the Maine.
Planning for the 2027 edition
The dates of the 2027 edition have not been announced yet: the City of Angers publishes them, with the programme and the map of performances, on angers.fr. What we do know is the rhythm: every September, three days of performances in the city centre — the 2026 edition, the twenty-sixth, ran from 11 to 13 September with more than 125 shows. As soon as the 2027 dates are known, book without waiting: Saturday evening is the busiest moment of the weekend.
The weekend when everyone eats at once
This is the difficulty peculiar to this festival. Performances follow one another, the streets fill up, and restaurants in the centre go from empty to full in twenty minutes: during Les Accroche-cœurs, an unbooked table at 12.30 or 7.30 p.m. is a matter of luck, and Saturday evening is the tightest moment of the three days. The most useful advice on this page: shift your timing. We open at 9.30 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on Saturday; lunch at 11.45 or 1.45 goes infinitely better than in the 12.15–1.30 slot, saturated everywhere. In the evening, same logic: come around nine, once the first wave has passed — the kitchen takes orders until 10 p.m.
Watch out for Sunday
The 2026 edition ended on a Sunday; if the next one follows the same calendar, note that Les Variétés are usually closed on Sundays. Better to know that while planning your weekend than on arriving at a locked door. For a group, a Sunday opening remains possible on reservation, once we have confirmed it. On Friday and Saturday, by contrast, we open at 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m. and close at 2 a.m. — well after the last performance.
Meeting here, before and after
During Les Accroche-cœurs the city centre is packed and the phone network feels it: finding six people becomes an operation. 33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch is an address every local can point to and a visitor finds first time. Many groups use it as a rallying point: you meet, have a drink, and head off to the shows together — just let us know how many you are. And afterwards, the house is still open when most have gone dark: that is when you finally sit down, order a last drink and talk about what you have just seen.
A brasserie, open continuously
Between two performances you do not necessarily want dinner: you want to sit down, have a drink, let the children breathe for twenty minutes. A brasserie allows that; a restaurant with fixed services does not. The room is open continuously from opening until 2 a.m., The kitchen takes orders from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.; outside those hours, the same table will bring you a coffee, a glass, or a jar dish so nobody leaves hungry. Across three festival days, that is what makes it bearable.
Our five spaces, and the terrace
This is the time of year when the choice of room matters most. Entrée Foch, thirteen seats, is the liveliest: ideal if you want to stay in the flow of the festival. Arrière Foch, seventeen seats, is set back: that is where we seat those who need calm, grandparents, toddlers. The Bressigny room takes twenty-five people without splitting them up, the Salle Haute thirty, upstairs. Les Accroche-cœurs being a festival of children and pushchairs, give the exact number when booking, children included: it changes the room we give you. The terrace, forty-three seats, is the best vantage point of the weekend, but it depends on the September sky: we never guarantee it in advance, and our eighty-five covered seats mean nobody ends up outside in the rain.
At the table
A French brasserie menu, cooked on boulevard Foch. Our meat is French; the fish comes from Maison Savia in Saumur, forty kilometres up the Loire. Dishes change with deliveries, and the menu of the day can be viewed online. On a weekend when the city centre fills with stalls, it is worth saying: you are sitting down in a kitchen, not in front of a festival hotplate.
The neighbourhood during the festival
Performances are spread across the centre and both banks of the Maine. From boulevard Foch, Place du Ralliement, Saint-Maurice cathedral and Angers Castle are all within walking distance, and Saint-Laud station is not far for those leaving that evening. You will not need your car all weekend, which is good news: driving in the centre during Les Accroche-cœurs has to be earned.
A house from 1902, in the middle of the festival
Les Variétés opened in 1902 and takes its name from the Théâtre des Variétés, which stood almost opposite, slightly to the right. A street festival that occupies the centre of Angers therefore passes, literally, in front of our windows. This is not an address that endures Les Accroche-cœurs: it is one that watched the festival begin and lives through it every year.
