Les Accroche-cœurs return to Angers from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September 2026, and the city centre becomes a stage. Les Variétés, at 33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch, sit in the middle of it: a brasserie open since 1902, minutes from performances spread across the centre and both banks of the Maine.
The weekend when everyone eats at once
That is this festival's particular difficulty. Performances follow one another, the streets fill, and city-centre restaurants go from empty to full in twenty minutes. Book. This is not commercial caution: during Les Accroche-cœurs, an unbooked table at half past twelve or half past seven is a matter of luck. Saturday evening is the tightest moment of the three days.
Watch out for Sunday
The festival runs until Sunday 13 September, but Les Variétés are closed on Sundays, all day. Better to know that while planning your weekend than on arriving at a locked door. On Friday and Saturday, by contrast, we open at 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m. and close at 2 a.m. — well after the last performance.
Meeting before, settling after
Boulevard Foch is a meeting point everyone can find, which counts when eight people are converging from three different places. After the shows, the house is still open when most have gone dark: that is the moment you finally sit down, order a last drink, and talk about what you have just seen. Closing at 2 a.m. is not a theoretical argument on those evenings.
The terrace, and what we cannot promise
The terrace seats forty-three and is the best vantage point of the weekend. But it depends on September weather, which cannot be booked. So we never guarantee it in advance: we keep eighty-five seats indoors across four rooms, and nobody ends up outside in the rain for want of an alternative.
Coming with family or in a group
Les Accroche-cœurs is a street festival, and therefore a festival of children, pushchairs and extended families. Our five spaces run from thirteen to forty-three seats: Entrée Foch, Arrière Foch, the Bressigny room, the Salle Haute and the terrace. A party of twenty-five fits in the Bressigny room without being scattered. Give the exact number when you book, children included: it changes the room we assign you.
At the table
A French brasserie menu cooked on the premises. Our meat is French, our fish comes from Maison Savia in Saumur. Dishes change with deliveries; the day's menu can be checked online.
A house from 1902, in the middle of the festival
Les Variétés opened in 1902 and takes its name from the Théâtre des Variétés, which stood almost opposite, slightly to the right. A street festival that occupies the centre of Angers therefore passes, literally, in front of our windows. This is not an address that endures Les Accroche-cœurs: it is one that watched the festival begin and lives through it every year.
Eat early or late, but not at half past twelve
The most useful advice on this page. During Les Accroche-cœurs the 12.15–1.30 slot is saturated everywhere in the centre. We open at 9.30 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on Saturday: lunch at 11.45 or at two goes infinitely better, and you will not queue. In the evening the same logic applies from nine, once the first wave has passed.
Where the food comes from
Our meat is French. Our fish comes from Maison Savia, in Saumur, some forty kilometres away. Everything is cooked on boulevard Foch. On a weekend when the city centre fills with stalls, that is worth saying: you are sitting down in a kitchen, not in front of a festival hotplate.
What we do not promise
The terrace, which depends on a September sky. A table without booking at peak hours. And Sunday, the festival's closing day, when we are closed. Three caveats better read now than discovered on the spot with ten people behind you.
Our five spaces during a busy weekend
This is the time of year when the choice of room matters most. Entrée Foch, thirteen seats, is the liveliest: ideal if you want to stay in the flow of the festival. Arrière Foch, seventeen seats, is set back: that is where we put anyone needing calm, grandparents, small children. The Bressigny room takes twenty-five, the Salle Haute thirty, upstairs. The terrace, forty-three seats, is the best vantage point — when the September sky cooperates. Eighty-five indoors, a hundred and twenty-eight in all.
Using us as a meeting point
During Les Accroche-cœurs the centre is packed and the mobile network suffers: finding six people becomes an operation. 33 boulevard du Maréchal Foch is an address any local can give and any visitor finds first time. Many groups use it as a rallying point rather than a restaurant: you meet, you have a drink, you set off together towards the performances. It is a use we know well and welcome, provided we know the numbers.
The neighbourhood during the festival
Performances are spread across the centre and both banks of the Maine. From boulevard Foch, Place du Ralliement, Saint-Maurice cathedral and the château of Angers are all within walking distance, and Saint-Laud station is not far for those leaving that evening. You will not need your car all weekend, which is good news: driving in the centre during Les Accroche-cœurs has to be earned.
A brasserie, open continuously
Between two performances you do not necessarily want dinner: you want to sit down, have a drink, let the children breathe for twenty minutes. A brasserie allows that; a restaurant with fixed services does not. The room is open continuously from opening until 2 a.m., and the same table will bring you a coffee, a glass or a full meal. Across three festival days, that is what makes it bearable.
